On Sept 12, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the New York Declaration on the two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. This declaration came from an international conference held at the UN in July, organized by France and Saudi Arabia. Of the 193 UN member states, 142 supported the resolution. The declaration calls for an immediate stop to fighting in Gaza, the release of hostages (人质) and the building of a strong and independent Palestinian state. It also demands that Hamas give up its weapons and stop controlling Gaza, while calling for improved relations between Israel and Arab countries, along with shared security commitments.
