Notre-Dame reborn: French President Emmanuel Macron looked out over the city during the opening ceremony of the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on Sept 19. He was given the honor of being the first person to tour the newly restored towers. Since a major fire badly damaged the famous historic site in 2019, the towers finally reopened on Sept 20. The restoration involved hundreds of artisans and cost nearly 700 million euros (about 5.87 billion yuan), according to AFP. Visitors can now enjoy a new 45-minute route from the south tower that leads up to the bell tower.
