Emblem

It shows a map of the world surrounded (环绕) by two olive branches (橄榄枝). Olive branches are ancient Greek symbols of peace. The map of the world shows the UN’s work for world peace. The “UN blue” color was also chosen to stand for peace instead of red, which means war.
