Egyptian treasures on display: Over two decades in the making, the Grand Egyptian Museum officially opened on Nov 1 in Cairo, Egypt. Covering half a million square meters, the museum houses about 100,000 artifacts (文物) dating back more than 6,000 years. Egyptian authorities have called the museum “the largest cultural building of the 21st century”. Leading Egyptologists believe that the museum’s opening supports their call for important Egyptian artifacts, like the famous Rosetta Stone currently in the British Museum, to be returned to Egypt.
